Barcelona on a rainy day
Indoor alternatives without rushing across the city between bookings.

First choose an area for the day
Rain does not mean crossing Barcelona from one shelter to another. Choose a main visit near your location and a meal break in the same area. Check admission slots before travelling: an attractive façade does not solve a rainy day if the interior is fully booked. Use the hourly forecast to place outdoor walks in a suitable window.
El Born: art and a short break
Museu Picasso can be your main visit if its collection interests you. Arrange admission, then leave time for a meal or break in the neighbourhood. Streets and squares are not covered: have a transport alternative for heavy rain. Do not assume churches or other buildings are freely accessible shelters.
Eixample: choose one modernist interior
Casa Batlló, La Pedrera and Sagrada Família are not interchangeable visits. Compare the interiors included, guide or audio-guide options and the margin needed between bookings. For a comfortable day, prioritise one and leave another as a possibility. Avoid consecutive tickets at different locations: rain can slow travel and entry.
Montjuïc: a museum with transport planned
MNAC is another cultural option, but it is on Montjuïc. Plan the outward and return journey before relying on it as a backup: spending time in a museum is different from walking around a hill in the rain. If your group needs to avoid stairs, check entrances and transport for the day.
With children, and before paying
At Port Vell, L’Aquàrium may suit an indoor visit. Choose around the children’s interests rather than simply looking for a roof. Check date, time, ages and cancellation conditions for any booking. Rain does not automatically make a ticket refundable. If you do not want another paid activity, shorten the day and save a brief walk for clearer weather.
