Getting around Barcelona
Practical transport advice for Barcelona.
The airport is not an ordinary city journey
L9 Sud serves terminals T1 and T2, but not every ticket covers those stations. T-casual and T-familiar are not valid for this airport metro journey. Check your terminal, ticket and connection to your accommodation before buying. Compare the final walk with luggage as well as the fare.
Group visits to avoid backtracking
Group the Gothic Quarter and El Born together, give Gaudí another block and plan Montjuïc separately. Distances on a schematic map do not show actual walking times or hills. For Park Güell, choose the entrance before choosing a transport stop: a nearby station is not the park gate.
Ticket, travel card and passengers
Before loading journeys, check whether your ticket is personal or shareable and how each passenger validates it. Owning a travel card does not mean one ticket covers the whole group. Keep it throughout your journey and check current TMB and T-mobilitat conditions rather than relying on an old fare.
Accessibility and the return journey
With a pushchair or reduced mobility, check lifts and the entire route, including interchanges. For a day trip, save your return station and check the last departures before leaving. Avoid booking a timed attraction immediately after your train is due to arrive.
