La Magdalena peninsula and palace · optional outing

La Magdalena deserves an outing of its own; it is not a short detour from the centre. Built in the early twentieth century through a municipal initiative as a summer residence for Alfonso XIII and Victoria Eugenia, the palace occupies the peninsula's upper ground. First notice its position among trees, sea and slopes: the landscape belongs to its image. After its royal period, the building has served university and municipal purposes. A walk around the peninsula does not include palace admission, so check interior visits separately. Plan transport and your return, allow time to rest, and adapt the walk to wind and rain.
