Guzmanes Palace

This Renaissance palace is attributed to Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón. Beside Casa Botines, the Guzmanes Palace provides an immediate comparison between periods and building approaches. The palace houses León's Provincial Council, so it should not be treated as a building entirely available for sightseeing. From outside, observe the façade's organisation, the rhythm of its openings and its position on the square. Civil architecture also tells stories about power, families and institutions, even without cathedral towers. If visits are offered, check which spaces are shown and how to enter. Do not attempt to access working offices. This stop can be enjoyed entirely from outside before continuing towards Calle Ancha and the nearby historic streets.
